MuleSource Closes $12.5 Million in Series B Funding

SAN FRANCISCO - May 22, 2007 - MuleSource (www.mulesource.com), the leading provider of open source infrastructure and integration software, announced that it has secured $12.5 million in a second round of venture capital funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. MuleSource raised an initial $4 million round of funding in October 2006 from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and Morgenthaler Ventures. The new round of funding will enable MuleSource to continue to scale its sales and support teams to keep up with the fast-growing installed base of the world's most widely used open source ESB and integration platform.

"Open source is effecting the same type of evolution in enterprise integration that it brought to the operating system and application server," said Ravi Mhatre, general partner at Lightspeed. "And as the first mover, MuleSource is the player to catch in open source integration. Mule has by far the largest installed base, the most mature technology and the most active developer community. We believe MuleSource has the opportunity to dominate this category."

Since its initial launch in October of 2006, MuleSource has grown its headcount to 25, and plans to increase headcount to 50 in 2007. The company has signed strategic alliances with major systems integrators in the United States, Japan, Norway, United Kingdom and Latin America, and will continue to expand its international presence with the launch of a formal partner program in 2007.

"We're extremely fortunate to team up with investors that truly understand how the open source business model works," said Dave Rosenberg, CEO of MuleSource. "We're excited to expand the adoption of Mule, and help our enterprise customers leverage the power of open source to reclaim control over their integration requirements."

Following an initial open source release in 2003 by creator Ross Mason, Mule has become the enterprise developer's most-used open source ESB and integration platform, with more than 700,000 total downloads and more than 1,000 enterprise production deployments to date.
